We did it again… Kalimera Athens! 🇬🇷

After a year of remote teamwork across time zones, the Ofri crew reunited under the Athenian sun. Our annual retreat is where brainstorming sessions blend with team adventures and where Slack messages turn into real smiles.

Unfortunately, not everyone could make it this year — one teammate joined only for the pre-retreat meet-up in Tirana, while another had to cheer from afar and was deeply missed. Still, the rest of the crew came together in Athens for a week full of connection, creativity, and just the right amount of chaos.

Sunday – Support team Feast

The retreat unofficially kicked off a country away — in Tirana, Albania. Our Founder & Managing Director met up with the support team there, since one of the crew couldn’t make it to Greece.

They decided to celebrate the occasion with “a few small bites”. Spoiler: Albanian portion sizes have a sense of humor. What arrived were mountains of food, enough to feed a small village.

The best part was finally meeting face-to-face after so many virtual calls. The perfect warm-up for the week ahead.

Monday – International Affairs

The week kicked off with arrivals from all corners of the world. As the team slowly gathered in Athens, excitement filled the air — and so did a few travel mishaps.

One of our teammates got stuck a day away in Belgrade due to a delayed connection, proving once again that our retreats are truly an international affair.

The rest of the team spent the evening at a cozy local restaurant in Athens, collecting first impressions, and of course plenty of delicious Greek food.

Tuesday – Street Food and Spirit

Tuesday marked the official start of our retreat. Benny opened the day with a warm welcome speech and a surprise: brand-new Ofri team t-shirts and jackets!

Decked out in fresh merch, we jumped into our first activity – a lively round of People Bingo. Each square on the card listed a quirky fact or recent experience, and our task was to find teammates who matched. Within minutes, the room was buzzing with laughter, conversations, and plenty of “aha!” moments.

With energy high, we spent the afternoon looking ahead, brainstorming, discussing, and aligning our visions.

When evening rolled around, we swapped laptops for peinirli and souvlaki on a street food tour through Athens. Between bites of loukoumades and tales from our guide, we quickly fell in love with Greek food — and with the city itself. After days in Europe’s chillier corners, basking in Athens’ late-summer warmth felt like a dream.

Wednesday – History Meets Home Cooking

The morning began with a guided sightseeing tour up to the Acropolis. The sun was shining, the view was stunning, and we hung around at the top, just taking it all in and feeling the place’s incredible history.

Back at the coworking space, we split into smaller groups to prepare short presentations about our daily work. It was eye-opening to see the different departments within Ofri, from development to operations, marketing and customer support. Understanding each other’s worlds sparked new appreciation and inspired fresh ideas for cross-team collaboration.

The evening grew cozy as we cooked delicious Greek dinner together at the Airbnb. It turned into one of those evenings that perfectly capture the Ofri spirit – great people, good food, and genuine connection.

Thursday – Work Hard, Play Harder

Thursday morning was all about wrapping up our brainstorming and turning ideas into concrete action points. But after a productive few hours, it was time to swap laptops for swimsuits.

We headed to a beach just outside Athens, where it didn’t take long before a game of water volleyball broke out — at least until a few curious fish decided to join in by nibbling at our legs!

So we made our way back to the sand for a bunch of fun team photos (some of the funniest ones had to be kept under wraps 😉).

As the sun began to set, we gathered at a beachside restaurant. Delicious food, relaxed conversations, and the golden sunset made it a perfect moment.

On the way back, things got unexpectedly cinematic when a car pulled a full-on Tokyo Drift right in front of us. Meanwhile, our bus to Athens took its time showing up. Just as we prepared ourselves to spend the night by the roadside, it rolled in and saved us from living out a real-life episode of Survivor – surrounded by crazy cars and wild turtles. Back in the city, we raised one last glass to an unforgettable week together.

Friday – See you next year!

Friday arrived, and everyone made their way back home – tired but fulfilled, inspired, and already looking forward to next year’s adventure.

The week in Athens was everything we hoped for and more: team spirit strengthened, new ideas born, and endless memories made.
